This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Research Fellow (RF) to work on the Canada Inuit Nunangat UK (CINUK) Arctic research programme funded project “Inuksiutit: Food Sovereignty in Nunavut and the Co-production of Country Food Knowledge” (IFSNu).
The post will be based at the University of Aberdeen and will involve fieldwork in Arviat and Mittimatalik.
The Inuksiutit project (IFSNu) will define and implement pathways to food sovereignty applicable to Inuit Nunangat. Collaborating with partners in two Canadian High Arctic communities, Arviat and Mittimatalik, the IFSNu project team will engage in community-based, qualitative research, directed at the digital documentation of Inuit country food knowledge. The project aims to: promote the intergenerational transmission of country food knowledge; foster community health and wellbeing through capacity-building in younger generations of Inuit; and advance local, regional, national and international understanding of the drivers of food insecurity among Inuit and their connections to Polar climate change.
Further information on this opportunity is available on the University of Aberdeen website now. Deadline for applications is 20 June 2022.
